My story
I grew up in a big, diverse household where music was never just playing in the background – it was part of the fabric of our family. My dad was an MC, my family were always throwing events, and I come from a family full of ravers. Music is how we celebrate, how we connect, how we let go and how we come back together. It has always been the thing that holds us close.
For me, music and connection aren’t just things I love – they are part of who I am. They’re in the way I move, the way I feel and the way I experience the world. It’s what I breathe.
I never saw myself as an academic. Studying wasn’t my favourite thing, and I didn’t come from a strong academic background. For a long time, I carried an idea of what I thought I was capable of. Eventually, I decided I wanted to challenge that version of myself. I took the leap, not because I knew I would succeed, but because I wanted to prove to myself that I could do more than I had ever believed.
In February 2026, I graduated with a Master’s in Business and a Level 7 qualification in Global Leadership. For me, that achievement was about far more than a certificate. It represented every moment I had doubted myself, every time I had questioned whether I belonged in the room, and the decision to keep going anyway.
And while I was growing, life was still happening around me. I faced redundancy more than once. In 2024, I was diagnosed with depression and OCD, and I reached a point where I had to confront myself in a way I never had before.
Therapy, CBT and the love and support of my family became part of rebuilding me. It wasn’t an overnight transformation. It was learning myself again, questioning the stories I had carried for years and slowly finding my way back to the person underneath it all.
Somewhere in that rebuilding, something shifted.
I stopped asking, “Why is this happening to me?” and started asking, “What is this preparing me for?”
On 31 December 2025, I had my first formal DJ lesson at London Sound Academy. What began as a personal challenge quickly evolved into something much bigger.
Within months, I helped build three collectives: Artful.Sounds, created with my best friend around music, creativity and sip & paint experiences; Mi Casa, built alongside five other DJs; and Rookie Riddimz, created with two other DJs. Each was founded with the same intention – to champion emerging talent, celebrate culture and create spaces built around genuine connection.
The early stages were never about profit. They were about learning, building and proving to myself what was possible when I stopped waiting for the perfect moment and started creating.
In July 2025, I won a DJ competition with MXDE. That opportunity developed into a deeper partnership, and today I am a Partner and Resident DJ at MXDE, helping shape premium experiences at the intersection of music, culture, wellness and community.
In a short space of time, I’ve gone from learning the craft to building collectives, curating events, mentoring emerging DJs and becoming part of a brand whose values align closely with my own.
Today, I’m also using everything I’ve learned to help others build their own path through DJ lessons, mentoring and business development courses. For me, it’s not just about teaching someone how to mix – it’s about developing confidence, understanding the business behind the music and giving people the tools to turn their creativity into something sustainable.
The journey has reinforced one belief above all:
When purpose is matched with work ethic, curiosity and a genuine desire to impact people, the possibilities expand far beyond what you first imagined.
For me, DJing has become more than music. It is a platform for connection, creativity, opportunity and community.
